Life Care has been operating in the Waikato since 1994 and even though our clients sing our praises, we still very much operated ‘under the radar’. We identified that one way to increase our profile was to enter the Waikato Business Excellence Awards. The process made us look at what we were doing and have our processes compared to others in the Service industry.
The process identified that we do a lot of ‘good’ things that even our staff and certainly our clients were unaware of, an example of this is the free first aid courses we offer to some charities, and sponsorship for staff members’ kids sports teams. The biggest benefit of this process was a renewed pride for the staff in working for Life Care.
The benefits of winning the award were numerous. The win allowed us to shout about our success to our clients and we received some fantastic compliments from them, the win also increased our ‘status’ with the standard setting body and it also ‘puts us up there’ when recruiting so prospective employees know we are serious about quality and customer service each and every day.
The process is time consuming however the benefits are fantastic.

The ongoing support that the Waikato Chamber of Commerce shows to the Waikato Business Community is both heartening and appreciated as without organisations such as yours these events would quite simply not take place.
It is with great pride that the Hamilton Workingmen’s Club displays these awards in our main trophy cabinet. These awards highlight to our Staff, members and Guests the high standards that can be achieved by working with one focus towards one goal.

It has been just over a week since we won the Innovation and Service Awards at the Waikato Business Excellence Awards and I would like to extend a big thank you to you and your company for the time and contribution you have made to these awards.
I personally, and the team at RPS Quality Homes in the last ten days have experienced the wonderful high of achieving these successes and we are slowly coming back to reality.
In entering these awards we were positive there would be an impact on our business but unclear exactly what that might be. But now we have had some time to reflect we believe the biggest change is ‘expectation’.
There is ‘expectation’ from Clients, Staff Members, Subcontractors and Suppliers to live up to the responsibility and accolade of winning these business awards. “The bar has been raised”. We now have the challenga of living up to the responsibility entrusted to us.
Our thinking both proactive and reactive towards anyone we meet and deal with has changed. How should an award winning company act?
Once again I thank you for your contribution to the Waikato Business Excellence Awards. It is not easy putting into words how much RPS Quality Homes appreciate the recognition we received.
